Ricochet Network to Shutdown August 8th, 2001.
The world's only high speed mobile data network will go dark on August 8th, 2001! To loosely quote a member of the Metricom Technical Advisory Board, it appears that "Metricom has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory."
There will be a major void in the life of this Ricochet user, but I look forward to the day that someone with vision recovers the Ricochet network from the ashes.
Until then, the 128k Cafe will serve as a reminder of the freedom that 51,200 Ricochet users enjoyed for a fleeting moment in time.
